OPENERS AND CONTROLS
Garage door openers, keypads and myQ
We sell and install LiftMaster openers from our shop on North 6th Avenue, and we are a registered myQ Diagnostics dealer. Trolley operators, hoist operators, keypads and remotes, matched to the door they have to lift.
Chapter 01
When the opener is the thing that gives out
Most opener calls start the same way. The door worked yesterday, today the remote does nothing, or the motor runs and the door does not move, or the door starts to close and reverses for no reason you can see. Sometimes the opener is worn out. Just as often the real trouble is in the door: a spring that has lost its tension makes the motor do work it was never built to do, and a door that is out of balance wears an opener down long before its time.
Remotes are the other common call. One customer wrote that her remote was stolen from her car while she was traveling. She bought replacements and could not get them to program. She called us, and a technician came out the same day and had both openers programmed within a few minutes. That is the kind of job we like: small, quick, and fixed properly.
On a commercial bay the story is different. A door that cycles all day in a shop or a warehouse asks more of its operator than a family garage ever will, and the wrong motor on that door is a repeat service call waiting to happen. That is why we start by looking at the door and how it is used, then pick the opener.

Trolley operators, hoist operators and the LiftMaster line
We are a LiftMaster dealer, and LiftMaster lists SCI Door on its own dealer locator at 1118 N 6th Ave in Yakima. For sectional doors we install trolley operators, which are designed to give smooth, efficient operation on both residential and commercial doors. They suit places where the door has to open and close often: a large garage, a warehouse, a storage facility.
Heavier and commercial doors can call for a hoist operator instead. Trolley and hoist operators are the two common ways to automate an overhead door, and the right one depends on the door's weight, its size and how many times a day it moves. We will tell you which one fits yours and why, before you buy.
Then the opener goes in right. We balance the door so the opener is not overworked, and we set the force limits and the safety sensors at install, so the door stops and reverses the way it should. If you also need the door itself looked at, our garage door repair and new garage door pages cover that side of the work.
Chapter 03
myQ, keypads and what happens after install
With myQ you can open the garage from anywhere using the app on a phone, tablet or computer. It can also detect errors in the opener and offer a troubleshooting option on your screen, which saves a lot of guessing when something is not right. We are a registered myQ Diagnostics dealer, so if your opener already uses myQ and is acting up, bring that to us.
A wireless keypad on the door jamb is the cheapest way to stop a family from fighting over one remote. One of our customers added a keypad with his new door and said it is convenient for everyone, especially his two boys. We mount and program them, and we will reprogram or replace remotes whenever you need.
Opener work is not a set-and-forget purchase, so we ask you to call if the door starts to slow down, make new noises or reverse on its own. Those are early signs worth catching. If you are not sure whether you need an opener, a repair or a new door, call us and describe what the door is doing.
